| I picked this play up from the Frankston Blues SEABL head coach Bill Runchey last year when I was lucky enough to be one of his assistant coaches. This play is run to create a 3pt shot opportunity, maybe at the end of the game or to get a good shooter a shot when needed. The play starts in a 4 out alignment from transition spots. In this instance we assume that 4 rebounded the ball and trailed opposite the point guard - 1 1 cuts to the opposite corner after making the lag pass to 4 who then reverses to 3. As this is happening 2 will head down below the backboard to set up the triple stagger screen | ||||||||||||||||||||
![]() | 3 dribbles the ball up to the guard spot and 1 lifts behind to the wing. 4 and 5 get into position to set their screens.
![]() | 3 passes to 1 and sets up the last screen for the triple stagger screen. 1 will dribble the ball as needed to shorten the pass. He should be reading the intentions of the defender on 2, if the defender on 2 tries to cheat the screen and meet him on the other side 2 will flare back towards the corner and 1 will need to take more dribbles than diagrammed to shorten the pass.
