Out of Bounds | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Baseline | |||||||||||||||||||||
| These plays are long time (20 YEARS!) SEABL coach Bill Runchey’s Out of Bounds Sets that he has “run since Moses was a boy, with some success in getting a score or at least the ball in bounds.” Two bigs start ballside baseline. 2 man sets up screen for 4 man. 1 leaks out for safety and 5 man sets screen for screener (2).
| ||||||||||||||||||||
![]() | 5 shapes up for ball, giving inbounder four options to pass to. 2 will almost always be open for the shot as his man will need to help on up/back screen.
| Sideline | |||||||||||||||||||||
![]() | 3 inbounds to either 1 off of 5s screen or 2 coming across lane or 5 stepping to ball 2 man sets back screen for 3 while 1 passes to 4 for lob or reversal.
![]() | 4 can look for 3 down low or for 2 coming off staggered screen set by 5 and 1.
| Sideline vs Pressure | |||||||||||||||||||||
![]() | As soon as the 3 man has passed their shoulder, the 2 man turns, shapes up to the ball to tighten their defender to them, then runs their man off the staggered screen, looking to catch and shoot. The 3 man holds at the post for a 1 count and then steps out to the corner. The second screener in the staggered should "head hunt" the cutter's defender.
![]() | 5 loops behind and goes long, 1 and 4 cut in opposite directions, and 2 comes hard to the ball.
![]() | Preferred option is best free throw shooter, but getting it in bounds is priority #1.
